Hardanger fiddle.

A  19th century 9 string Norwegian Hardanger fiddle. Labelled  Gronsdall, Hardanger  1899 A one-piece back and ribs of plain birch with double inked purfling enclosing inked dots, the table edged with mother of pearl segments and painted with gilt scrollwork, the fingerboard with geometrical inlay in bone and mother of pearl, four bowed and five sympathetic strings.  Minor old crack at top of back (2.5cm.). Two longer (12cm.) repaired cracks in table extending upwards from base. A neck repair  (length may have been altered ?) String length is 29cm.
