Fiddle.

An unusual fiddle of eccentric shape. German 19th century. Bone ended machine tuners with etched plate. I have seen these as fretted instruments (strung reverse of fiddle. This one is strung conventionally) and are played usually flat on a table ( hence the small feet on the back). Known as streichmelodeons, a form of bowed zither.  This one is in very good crack free condition. Some minor blemishes. £550
